French Creek
This bustling marine community is situated on Highway 19A, the "Oceanside Route" along the Strait of Georgia, on the east coast of Vancouver Island. The Annual French Creek Family Fishing Festival, a favourite with tourists and locals alike, is a week-long celebration that includes a Seafood Chowder Competition, a Kids derby, and daily fishing competitions.
The working harbour of French Creek is home to a large commercial fishing fleet, Coast Guard Station and many charter operations. The charters take visitors salmon, cod or halibut fishing, sightseeing and diving. The Marina offers sheltered moorage and yachting amenities for sailboats and pleasure craft.
A specialty seafood store, marine outfitter, general store and pub are located near the Federal dock. A foot passenger only private ferry service operates between French Creek and False Bay on Lasqueti Island. A boat launch is also available for the boating enthusist.
